A Hammond man died Monday night from blunt force trauma injuries he sustained after losing control of his motorcycle.
Witnesses to the accident told Hammond Police that George Bigley Surles sped out of the Planet Fitness parking lot, 7925 Indianapolis Blvd., shortly after 9 p.m.,according to the accident report Hammond Police Spokesman Lt. Richard Hoyda released Tuesday. Surles lost control of his bike and crashed into the wall of Aldi.
Surles was taken to Community Hospital. He suffered two broken legs and head injuries, the report indicated; Surles didn’t appear to be wearing a helmet, nor was one found at the scene.
