Elvis has returned to the building. The iconic singer-songwriter Elvis Costello just announced an Oct. 29 Chicago date.

The Chicago Theatre gig hews to the notion that there is a certain point in an artist’s career where a concert date becomes “An Evening With.” So it goes for this event, billed as “An Evening With Elvis Costello and the Imposters.”

This date, announced Tuesday, is part of the ongoing “Imperial Bedroom & Other Chambers” tour, one of a dozen East Coast and Midwest dates added to Costello’s sonic gambol.

Costello will frame selections from 1982’s “Imperial Bedroom” album with “the songs that led in and out of that velvet-trimmed playhouse,” noted the performer in a press statement.

Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday, priced from $33.50-$153.50 at Ticketmaster.com, by phone at 800-745-3000 or at the Chicago Theatre box office.
