A judge set bail Sunday at $500,000 for a 44-year-old man accused of breaking into a 74-year-old woman’s mobile home, binding her mouth with a sock and robbing her at knifepoint before fleeing in her car, authorities said.
Dandre T. Mabone, of the 400 block of Sterling East in unincorporated Justice, appeared before Judge Donald Panarese Jr., who set the bail during a hearing at the Leighton Criminal Court Building.
Mabone is charged with two counts of armed robbery and one count of home invasion, police said.
Cook County Sheriff’s Police received a report of a home invasion at the Sterling Estates mobile home park near Justice about 4:50 a.m. Thursday, according to a statement from the sheriff’s office.
Officers got there and found a 74-year-old woman inside the residence with a sock tied around her mouth. After officers untied her, they found she did not appear to have physical injuries and declined medical assistance, police said.
Officers learned that a masked man entered the woman’s residence, threatened to stab her with a knife, tied her up, and took her debit card and her car keys. He then fled in the woman’s vehicle. The victim was able to free herself and call 911.
Officers located the vehicle a short distance away, police said.
Mabone, who has a history of arrests dating to 1988, including arrests for drug possession, also has several aliases, records show. He was arrested Friday outside his home and is slated to appear in court again on Tuesday.
