A woman was taken to a hospital in critical condition after a man stabbed her in the neck in the East Hyde Park neighborhood on the South Side, police said.
The 34-year-old woman and a 39-year-old man were in the 5000 block of South East End Avenue around 6:10 a.m. when they started fighting and the man stabbed her, a Chicago police spokeswoman.
The woman was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital. The man was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital for cuts to his hand.
Charges were pending against the man.
