Some Americans would prefer a catastrophe to voting Hillary Clinton or Donald Trump into the White House. This is not a drill.
The polling firm Public Policy (yes, the same Public Policy that once found 15-year-old presidential candidate Deez Nuts to be pulling 9 percent of the population’s vote) released a poll Thursday that found 13 percent of Americans would prefer a giant meteor hitting the Earth over Hillary Clinton (at 43 percent) or Donald Trump (at 38 percent) becoming president.
The meteor is most popular with independent voters, coming in at a near three-way tie at 27 percent to Clinton’s 35 percent and Trump’s 31 percent. Tell us how you really feel, independents.
The two legitimate candidates have favorability ratings of just 39 percent for Clinton and 35 percent for Trump, allowing “Giant Meteor hitting the Earth” to gain momentum. #GiantMeteor2016 is faring better in the polls than any third-party candidate actually in the running. Sorry, dudes. The literal end of the world would be more enticing than any of you guys.
Come November, we’ll see how vocal Giant Meteor supporters are. That write-in option might look pretty tempting if it elects a bigger catastrophe than Donald Trump’s (alleged) toupee into office.
