The Gary Police Department is investigating a body found in a grassy area Thursday afternoon.
Officers were called to the area of East 27th Avenue and Maryland Street around 2:24 p.m. in reference to a body found. Foul play is suspected, Gary Police Spokeswoman Lt. Dawn Westerfield said in a press release.
The body, a man who is unidentified at this point, was taken by the Lake County Coroner’s office.
Maryland Street and 27th Avenue end at this point on the north side of Interstate 80/94, five blocks east of Broadway.
