SportsOnEarth.com’s Terence Moore sat down recently with new Miami Marlins co-hitting coach Barry Bonds, and the all-time home run leader placed the blame for his being considered a churlish diva while he was a player squarely on his own shoulders:

“It’s on me. I’m to blame for the way I was [portrayed], because I was a dumbass. I was straight stupid, and I’ll be the first to admit it,” said Bonds, during a recent series in Atlanta. “I mean, I was just flat-out dumb. What can I say?”

Bonds hit 762 career home runs in a 22-year career that ran from 1986-2007, but became a central figure in baseball’s steroids scandal a decade ago.
