Evanston police Cmdr. Joe Dugan said the man was confronted at 3:40 a.m. on a sidewalk in the 300 block of Howard Street by a suspect described as a black man in his 40s dressed all in dark clothing. The man demanded the Evanston resident’s property and a fight ensued. Dugan said the robber wielded an unknown metallic object. The assailant fled on foot without taking anything from the man, Dugan said. The Evanston resident made his way to Presence Saint Francis Hospital on Ridge Avenue where he received 4 stitches for the cut on his lip, he said.
Dugan said police have not made any arrests in connection with the incident.
