A woman struck by car and killed early Thursday on Route 12 near Volo was identified by the Lake County Coroner’s Office on Friday as a 22-year-old Lake Zurich resident.
A Lake County Sheriff’s Office spokesman reported that Stephanie V. Kostenko died as a result of multiple injuries after being struck just south of Route 120 by a Ford Mustang traveling southbound on Route 12. Det. Christopher Covelli said the woman was crossing the road for an unknown reason, and the sheriff’s Technical Crash Investigations Unit continues to review the incident.
