Mary Kay Ryan works at the Uptown Shop, a boutique that features such items as women’s clothing and accessories, and serving ware, with stores in Western Springs and Elmhurst.

Q: Where do you live?

A: Western Springs. I’ve lived here for 28 years.

Q: Are you married?

A: I’m a widow. I have three grown children ages 36, 26 and 24.

Q: How long have you worked here?

A: Ten years, this August.

Q: What do you like about your job?

A: It’s the same group of women (working there) who started 10 years ago. It’s a testament to our love of the community. We know half the customers. They’re all so pleasant and nice. Some just come in to talk to us.

Q: What new fashion trends or products are hot right now?

A: We have really cute spring clothing. And we have colored Mariposa serving ware. It’s silver with color.

Q: What is your favorite television show?

A: “Modern Family.” It’s funny.

Q: What’s your favorite movie?

A: I liked “It’s Complicated.” That was funny. But “Gone With the Wind” is my all-time favorite.

Q: Any vacations coming up?

A: I’m going to the East Coast for a wedding. I have like five weddings coming up.

Q: What are your hobbies?

A: Yoga, gardening, reading and golfing.
