One of the Chicago area’s own is stepping back into the UFC Octagon at the United Center after a long layoff.

Buffalo Grove native Felice Herrig (10-6-0) will square off against Kailin Curran (4-2-0) in a strawweight bout. In Herrig’s last fight, she lost by unanimous decision to Paige VanZandt in April 2015. The bout against Curran will be Herrig’s first in Chicago since joining the UFC, and both she and Curran need a victory if they hope to eventually crack the top 10 in the strawweight rankings.

The UFC previously announced four other fights for that night’s card: Ryan LaFlare vs. Alexander Yakovlev (welterweight), Hector Urbina vs. George Sullivan (welterweight), Alex Oliveira vs. James Moontasri and Luis Henrique vs. Dmitry Smolyakov (heavyweight).

The event takes place July 23.
