Greg Zimmerman has always been a voracious reader. An executive editor of a trade magazine for building owners, as well as a part-time employee at RoscoeBooks, he’s accustomed to friends, family and customers approaching him for recommendations.
Often he’ll direct them to The New Dork Review of Books, a destination for his candid, well-considered reviews: “I gravitate toward contemporary literary fiction and try to read more deliberately and diversely now — not just books by old white guys.”
Some favorites include “A Little Life” by Hanya Yanagihara (“A big, immersive, terrifying, devastating book,”); “White Teeth” by Zadie Smith (“I love her and have read every word she’s written!”) and “The Brothers K” by David James Duncan, an all-time favorite.
Stacks of to-read titles fill the Roscoe Village home Zimmerman shares with his wife and two dachshunds.

“I think that’s why she bought me an e-reader,” he says with a laugh. “So I’d stop buying books!”
