About 29 people were displaced after an extra-alarm fire ripped though four buildings early Friday morning in the Back of the Yards neighborhood on the South Side.

The blaze broke out about 1:52 a.m. in the 4600 block of South Honore Street, according to Chicago Fire Department officials.

Officials called for a 2-11 alarm response about 2:15 a.m. and upgraded it to a 3-11 alarm 15 minutes later.

Three two-and-a-half story buildings were involved in the fire, and a fourth building was exposed to the flames. The blaze was struck out about 3:59 a.m., said fire spokesman Cmdr. Frank Velez.

About 29 people in total were displaced as a result of the fire, and no one was injured, Velez said.

The fire is still under investigation, and no other information was immediately available.
