Royal Caribbean International took possession Friday of its 24th ship: Ovation of the Seas.
Ovation, with a capacity for 4,180 passengers at double occupancy, is the third vessel in the Miami-based cruise line’s Quantum-class of ships.
It joins sister vessels Quantum of the Seas and Anthem of the Seas, already in operation.
The Quantum-class ships feature advanced technology and several first-at-sea features, including the North Star observation capsule, skydiving and surfing experiences, and SeaPlex, the largest indoor activity space with basketball, roller-skating and bumper cars.

The Quantum ships also have 18 restaurants offering a variety of cuisines.
Royal Caribbean took possession of the ship during ceremony in Germany with shipyard Meyer Werft, where the ship was built.
The 2,091-cabin, 18-deck Ovation will sail to Southampton, U.K., where it will operate a series of short cruises before departing on a 52-night “Global Odyssey” voyage that will end in its official home port of Tianjin, China.
Ovation is slated to begin its first cruise from Tianjin in June, joining four Royal Caribbean ships already sailing in China: Quantum of the Seas, Mariner of the Seas, Voyager of the Seas and Legend of the Seas.
“We have once again introduced yet another one of the most technologically advanced cruise ships and the very first that has been built for the China market — a market we continue to demonstrate our commitment to expanding,” Michael Bayley, Royal Caribbean’s president and CEO, said in a statement.
