LinkedIn was down for some users Wednesday afternoon, the second outage in a month.

Users began reporting problems accessing the professional social network’s website and app at about 3 p.m. About 40 minutes later, some had regained access. By 4:30, the company said the site’s troubles had been fixed.

Different error messages met different users. Some saw a windshield wiper cleaning off a dirty LinkedIn logo with the message, “We’re getting things cleaned up. We’ll be back soon.” Others saw a 503: Service Unavailable error.

At 3:20 p.m., the LinkedIn support Twitter account responded to users.

“Some members may be experiencing issues with our site,” a LinkedIn spokeswoman said, echoing the tweet

. “Our team is working hard to resolve.”

The spokeswoman didn’t say why the site was down.

DownDetector.com, which tracks website outages, had received more than 2,000 complaints from LinkedIn users. A live map showed complaints from throughout the U.S., in the United Kingdom and Netherlands.

Frustrated users took to Twitter to air their complaints.
