Jordan Spieth brought a Texas flavor to the Masters champions dinner Tuesday night with a service of beef brisket, smoked chicken, pork ribs, bacon-and-chive potato salad and a warm chocolate chip cookie with ice cream.

Spieth said he hoped to do more listening than talking at the dinner.

“I’ve had dinner with Phil (Mickelson) many times and he can hold court, so I think that will certainly happen,” Spieth said with a grin.

Unable to play while he recovers from back surgery, Tiger Woods attended the dinner. Spieth said he didn’t think it would be strange to see the 14-time major winner in a ceremonial role.

“We haven’t see him competing in a little while,” Spieth said. “Because of that, I don’t think it will be odd. I think the whole experience will be so unique in itself that it won’t be focused on anything like that. I think I’ll be kind of eyes wide open, just excited to be there.”
