A 17-year-old boy was shot to death in the Oriole Park neighborhood Monday afternoon and at least six others have been wounded in shootings since Monday morning in Chicago.
The boy was found at about 1:15 p.m. behind a Taco Burrito King across from the CTA Blue Line stop in the 5500 block of North Harlem Avenue, according to police. He was taken to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in critical condition and pronounced dead, according to police.
A police source said the boy was shot during a drug deal and that his car and phone are missing.
A witness reported seeing the boy being dumped from a car in the area of Harlem Avenue and Higgins Road, police Capt. Hootan Bahmandeji said. The boy was found in a parking lot next to a dental clinic and a Taco Burrito King restaurant.
The victim had been shot but was alive when taken to the hospital, Bahmandeji said.
Dr. Robert Hessberger, whose dental practice is next door to the parking lot, said he was informed of the police activity by his patients, who were were unable to move their cars from the parking lot.
