Luxury cruise operator Regent Seven Seas Cruises will add a ship to its fleet in 2020.

Regent’s parent company, Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings Ltd. of Miami, has reached an agreement with the Fincantieri shipyard of Italy to build the new Regent ship.

The new Explorer-class vessel will be a sister ship to the 750-passenger Seven Seas Explorer, which is set to enter service in Europe in July.

Seven Seas Explorer — Regent’s first new ship in 14 years —w ill make its North American debut at PortMiami in early December.

Regent has three other ships in its fleet: Seven Seas Mariner, Seven Seas Navigator and Seven Seas Voyager.

“The extraordinary demand generated by Seven Seas Explorer, including record-breaking booking volumes, reinforced our decision to expand our fleet,” Jason Montague, Regent’s president and chief operating officer, said in a statement.

The yet-to-be named cruise ship will feature many of the high-end features and amenities aboard Seven Seas Explorer, Norwegian said. Those include gourmet dining, plush lounges and spacious staterooms, including a version of the new ultra-luxurious Regent Suite, which is making its debut on Seven Seas Explorer.

“We expect that the positive impact on earnings and impressive return on investment from Seven Seas Explorer will be significant and that her sister vessel will make a similar contribution,” said Frank Del Rio, Norwegian’s president and CEO.

More details about the new Regent ship, which has a contract price of 422 million euros, or $481 million at today’s exchange rate, will be announced later, Norwegian said.

The cruise company said it has secured financing for the new ship order.
