Over the past year, RedEye has been lucky to premiere Celine Neon’s excellent last EP “Kitty” as well as its cover of MO and Elliphant’s “One More.” Now, the local pop trio with the best name ever is back to give us another exclusive: an acoustic rendition of its single “My Main.”
After hearing the band perform a stripped-down version of the track when Celine Neon were a guest during an episode of the local late-night talk show “Good Evening with Pat Whalen,” I’m happy singers Emily Nejad and Maggie Kubley, along with producer/guitarist Will Kubley (yes, Maggie’s sibling), decided to officially release it.
A statement given to RedEye says that the video, “captures a rare moment for Celine Neon – the band actually getting together in the same room. Will stopped through Chicago while on tour with Passafire and hung around for a few days to record, party, and eat tacos.” It adds, “Will was crashing on the couch of filmmaker/childhood bestie Joel Pearish, who agreed to shoot the acoustic version of “My Main” that the band had been playing around.” Watch below.
In concert: Dawn Richard, Celine Neon, Friday, April 22, at Reggie’s. Buy tickets here.
