Along with fronting Chicago psych-pop staple Yawn, Adam Gil channels some of his musical energy into his solo project Dam Gila (yep, it’s an anagram). Although he released an album in 2014 (“So Long, Leisure”) under the moniker, Dam Gila will release a new EP “Face the Sun” April 1. In anticipation of the release, Gil, who’s also in Cullen Omori’s touring band, has exclusively debuted his new single “Slow Burn” with RedEye.
As much as it would make for a perfect writing segue, “Slow Burn” doesn’t do what its title suggests. It takes little time to get going, taking Gil’s ear for Beatles-esque melody and twisting it with fuzz, psychedelic guitars and his scorching falsetto. It’s awesome. Listen below.
