A Franklin Park man was fatally stabbed following an altercation last week, police said.

Sean J. Foley, 19, was with his girlfriend in the vicinity of the park in the 2300 block of North Leyden on March 25. Police said David Quinones, 20, met Foley near the park in the late morning and reportedly used a knife when a fight broke out between the two young men. Officers were called to the scene around 11:11 a.m. and took Quinones into custody, police said.

“It happened near Trumbull Park; not in the park but in the parkway,” said Rodger Loni, River Grove’s director of police. “It was an altercation between two young men. They started fighting and victim was stabbed, maybe eight or 10 times.”

Officers said Foley had been stabbed mostly in the torso, but had a few arm wounds as well. Foley, of the 2400 block of Oak Street in Franklin Park, was taken to Loyola University Medical Center and was pronounced dead later that day, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office. The death was ruled a homicide, medical examiner’s spokeswoman Becky Schlikerman said.

Quinones, of the 2500 block of Grove Street, River Grove, has been charged with first degree murder. He appeared in bond court March 27 and was ordered held on $1 million bond. He was expected to appear in court again on March 29 at the Maywood courthouse.
