A man who wanted free coffee threatened a manager at a Starbucks in Buffalo Grove, police said.
According to a Buffalo Grove police report, the manager of the Starbucks at 1205 W. Dundee Road called the police March 9 after feeling threatened by a disgruntled would-be customer.
The man pulled into the drive-through and demanded a free refill, the report said — but the world’s largest coffee chain does not offer free refills, and employees had not seen the man before.
The drive-through worker told the man the price of the coffee he wanted, and the man became agitated, the report said. He parked his car, walked inside and brought his concerns to the manager.
According to the police report, “The subject told (the supervisor): ‘You don’t know me,’ and ‘You don’t know what I can do to you.'”
The man then left the store and drove away, and the supervisor called 911.
