Those looking to catch all the excitement of March Madness along with great food will score big at the Fox & Hound Sports Tavern in Aurora. Located just across the street from the Fox Valley Mall in the Yorkshire Shopping Center, it’s where classic pub meets sports bar in the western suburbs.
“We have a ‘Cheers’ atmosphere here,” said George Hannan, general manager of Fox & Hound’s Aurora location. “It’s a relaxed environment that feels like home, and we encourage our staff to treat people like family.”
And the family keeps coming back. From the 32 TVs to the extensive food and beverage menu options, this local spot has earned an MVP award from fans and foodies alike. Here’s the scoop on the Fox & Hound.
What’s on the menu? Fox & Hound has something for every occasion, from classic pub foods like beer battered fish and chips and classic wings, to great burgers, flatbreads, Paninis and baby back ribs. Fox & Hound is also known for its great happy hour and bar, including a wide selection of craft and local beers.
About the owner: Fox & Hound is owned by Cerberus Capital Management, a private investment firm based in New York City. Besides Aurora, there are locations in Schaumburg and Arlington Heights.
A mission statement or philosophy: “Fox & Hound is one of the largest gathering spots in the neighborhood, and we take pride in treating our guests as if they were visitors to our own homes,” said Daniel Tuttle of Fox & Hound’s corporate office. “Comfortable and casual, we believe there’s no better place to hang out than Fox & Hound.”
What’s the decor like? Dark woods and exposed brick, Fox & Hound is where classic pub meets sports bar. Televisions are everywhere, making it easy to stay up to date with whatever sport or team you’re cheering for.
Food specialties: A favorite appetizer is the Nachos Muchos platter, and includes white corn tortilla chips smothered in cheddar, Monterey Jack and the house queso, and topped with lime sour cream, fresh pico de gallo, jalapenos and a choice of chicken or chili. Diners rave about the beer battered fish or the baby back ribs, which are slow roasted for four hours and slathered in a sweet and tangy Kansas City-style bourbon barbecue sauce and served with coleslaw and Parmesan crusted fries.
We’re different because: This is not your typical sports bar. Whether you’re looking for a place for date night, dinner with the family or to grab a cold one, Fox & Hound can handle it with more than 8,000-square feet of space for food, fun and entertainment.
Extras: In addition to 32 televisions, they have pool tables, darts, air hockey, ping pong, foosball, giant Jenga and more. Their expansive space can accommodate large groups for a private party or corporate event as well. They also offer daily drink specials like $2 drafts each Tuesday and events like karaoke on Wednesday night.
