A Skokie bank was robbed Friday morning, according to the FBI’s Chicago office and Skokie police.
The robbery occurred shortly after 10 a.m. at the Albany Bank & Trust branch at 7515 N. Skokie Blvd., Skokie police Sgt. John Moersfelder said. The incident was described as a “non takeover bank robbery” in which the suspect “threatened a weapon,” FBI spokesman Garrett H. Croon said in an email.
Moersfelder said no injuries were reported and there is no indication the suspect carried a weapon.
Croon confirmed that money was stolen but said the exact amount taken was unavailable.
Moersfelder said the suspect is a white man in his 50s who was wearing a black sweatshirt, maroon sweatpants and a black baseball cap. He fled south from the bank after the robbery, Moersfelder said.
Anyone with information is asked to call the Skokie Police Department at 847-982-5900 or the FBI’s Chicago office at 312-421-6700.
