No, terrorism isn’t new, and words can’t express how terrible it is that sometimes it feels more and more dangerous to be an innocent person in public in 2016.
With that being said, it’s sort of hard to imagine that anyone wants to see a movie in which a boatload of people are murdered in a public place by terrorists with guns upon guns upon guns—especially when the movie is “London Has Fallen,” which, unlike something like “Captain Phillips,” is not an intimate study of believable characters but rather an exaggerated, escapist action movie starring Gerard Butler that’s the sequel to 2013’s terrible “Olympus Has Fallen.”
I’m not allowed to say what I thought of “London Has Fallen” yet, so for now just a question: Does an increasingly scary world make you more interested in movies that seem to make these threats easily conquered by one unstoppable hero, or less interested in big-screen reminders of the dangers outside (and sometimes inside)?
