Divvy has rolled out a leap day deal, offering half-price passes to cyclists Monday.
The 24-hour pass priced at $9.95 will be discounted to $5 on leap day at all 475 stations to encourage riders to use the city’s blue bike-sharing program on the “bonus day to have some fun, explore a new neighborhood or visit one of their favorite places by bike,” according to a news release from the Chicago Department of Transportation.
The pass allows for unlimited 30-minute trips within a 24-hour period.
Divvy also is giving away a free annual membership to a leap day rider. This month, the annual membership fee increase kicked in, raising the cost to $99, up from $75. Last year, Divvy raised the cost of the 24-hour pass from $7 to $9.95.
Divvy, which launched in 2013, saw riders take 3.2 million trips last year and has plans to expand its footprint this summer by adding more bikes and stations in additional Chicago neighborhoods and in Oak Park and Evanston. The system counts more than 32,400 annual members.
