A Papa John’s pizza store was robbed Saturday night by a man armed with a gun, Naperville police and store officials said Sunday.

The suspect, described as a white man wearing a gray hoody, entered the 1220 W. Ogden Ave. business at about 7:10 p.m., displayed a handgun and obtained an undisclosed amount of cash before fleeing, police Cmdr. Jason Arres said in a news release.

Although the identity of the business was not revealed, a Papa John’s employee confirmed the incident Sunday night. The employee was unable to provide more information and referred calls to the store manager, who was on duty Saturday night and will be back at work Monday morning.

No one was injured in the holdup, and no other information on the suspect, such as age or build, was released by Arres.

The robbery marks the fifth to have taken place in Naperville since Jan. 18, when 7-Eleven stores at 351 E. Bailey Road and 1490 E. Chicago Ave. – about three miles apart – were held up between 3:55 and 4:15 a.m., according to Naperville police. The suspect in both cases is believed to be the same person, described as a white man in his mid-30s standing about 6-foot-2 and weighing about 200 pounds. He wore dark clothing and a hat, partially covered his face and carried a dark-colored handgun or weapon, police said.

A third holdup occurred at about 8 p.m. on the same day, and involved two men – one white, the other black – who were armed with a knife and took an undisclosed amount of money from a pizza deliveryman in the 700 block of Benedetti Drive, near Naperville North High School, police said.

All three cases remain unsolved, but a fourth, which occurred at about 4 p.m. Feb. 5 at the Corner Pantry store, 1801 Wehrli Road, ended with the arrest of Joseph Andalina, 23, of the 1300 block of Ivy Lane, Naperville, just a few hours after it occurred. Andalina is accused of going behind the store’s counter, shoving a clerk out of the way and taking an undisclosed amount of money, Naperville police said. Police were able to identify Andalina as a suspect and, after a police chase, he was taken into custody and charged with robbery, aggravated fleeing and possession of a controlled substance.

Arres did not disclose in his release whether police believe there is any connection between the Saturday holdup and those that occurred on Jan. 18.
