An Orland Park panel is set Monday to consider plans for a new five- level parking garage downtown near the Ninety 7 Fifty on the Park apartment compex and planned University of Chicago medical facilty.
The three-trustee Development Services, Planning and Engineering Committee is expected to decide whether to recommend the $12.6 million parking garage to the full Orland Park Village Board.
If approved by the full board, Development Services Dir. Karie Friling said Friday construction could begin on the 108,000 square-foot facility as soon as next month on the northeast corner of 143rd Street and Ravinia Avenue.
Friling said the village project is supported by a $10.6 million contribution from the University of Chicago, which would have exclusive access to 175 of the planned 520 parking spaces. The remaining spaces would be available for free to the general public.
On Tuesday, the Orland Park Plan Commission endorsed the project, which also sets aside 12,000 square-feet of commercial space for an additional $1 million.

Under the plan, Walsh Construction Co. would be the general contracter.
The University of Chicago medical facility is currently under construction at the corner of 143rd Street and La Grange Road.
Friling said part of the parking garage, which will be located west of the medical office building, would extend over the proposed Jefferson Avenue, but wouldn’t connect to that building.
Also scheduled for the committee’s consideration is a 91,650 square foot elderly housing facility on the 7400 block of 159th Street.
The Dallas-based Caddis Partners Heartis development would include a three-story assisted living facility.
The project is part of a proposed multi-business development west of Home Depot.
