A customer of Lyft, a ride-sharing company, was charged with disorderly conduct after allegedly becoming belligerent with the driver in Downers Grove, police said.
Mark J. Nails, 41, of Dallas, Ga., was charged with disorderly conduct in the Jan. 26 incident at DuPage Inn, 2410 Ogden Ave. in Downers Grove, according to police reports.
Police were called there about 11:26 p.m. to investigate. The driver told officers that he received a notice to pick up a customer at DuPage Inn, but when he arrived, the customer had canceled the request.
The customer, whom police later identified as Nails, then allegedly tried to enter the car, but the driver told him he was not allowed in because the request was canceled, according to the police report.
The driver told police Nails then became belligerent and started yelling, and also punched and kicked the passenger door of the car. The driver then drove away and called police as Nails chased after the car, police said.
Nails later denied punching or kicking the vehicle when police questioned him, although he said he tried to get inside the car but could not, according to police reports. Officers noted that he was “uncooperative” during questioning.
Nails was released on $120 bond and was scheduled to be in court on Feb. 22.
