Buick is adding a compact CUV companion called Envision to its subcompact Encore and full-size Enclave CUV lineup starting in the second quarter of this year. Envision, arriving via Buick’s China operations, is a luxury compact, in response to demands for smaller, higher-mileage machines, but with the same creature comforts as larger vehicles. It will offer on-demand all-wheel drive, and a 2-liter, 252-horsepower turbo four-cylinder engine teamed with a six-speed automatic and stop/start technology to conserve fuel. Goodies include heated front/rear seats and steering wheel, cooled front seats, power liftgate and seats, moon roof, 19-inch wheels, heated outside mirrors, an 8-inch IntelliLink screen, OnStar with 4G LTE and a built-in Wi-Fi hot spot, USB ports, and 12- and 120-volt outlets. Safety features include Automatic Park Assist that steers the CUV into a parallel parking spot on its own to save the driver the chore, Lane Keep Assist to help keep the driver within the designated lane and a rearview camera plus available Surround Vision for an overhead view of the CUV to aid the driver’s vision when parking and backing up.
