Two installed furnaces with a combined value of $8,000 were reported stolen from a residence in the 800 block of Glencoe Street in Glen Ellyn on Jan. 22, police said.

The house is currently undergoing a renovation, Deputy Chief of Police Bill Holmer said.

The unknown individuals gained entry to the house and removed the furnaces, possibly for resale value, Holmer said. The electrical connections for the furnaces were disconnected rather than torn out, suggesting the units were removed by someone familiar with installation practices.

That incident was one of several unrelated burglaries that occurred between Jan. 16 and Jan. 22 in Glen Ellyn, according to police reports.

On Jan. 20 a number of tools with an unspecified value were reported stolen from various storage lockers in the 0 to 100 block of Sunset Avenue.

On Jan. 16 $8 in cash was reported stolen from a car parked in the lot of Five Corners Cleaners, 818 Main St.

An automobile in an unlocked garage in the 500 block of Phillips Avenue was entered by unknown individuals. Items were removed from the center console and placed on the driver’s seat, but nothing appeared to have been taken, according to the report.
