Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

Here’s what hit my earbuds this week in the best way possible. New music from Twin Peaks, Open Mike Eagle and Paul White, Gallant and Jhene Aiko, Porches and Into It. Over It.

5. Gallant and Jhene Aiko, “Skipping Stones”

Two phenomenal voices, one incredibly smooth collaboration.

4. Porches, “Car”

Porches, aka New York City songwriter Aaron Maine, is releasing its new album “Pool” this Friday. I could write 1,000 words about why I love it so much, but I’ll just say that you should listen to the latest single “Car” and find me on Twitter if you want a sermon on this artist.

4. Open Mike Eagle and Paul White, “Check to Check”

This is a hot new collaboration between wordsmith MC Open Mike Eagle and U.K. producer Paul White about how we keep checking our technology, and it manages to not be preachy. Sure, our cell phones and Twitter accounts may have scorched our attention spans, but this is an engaging cut no matter how long it takes you to Tweet about the bagel you ate this morning.

2. Into It. Over It., “Required Reading”

[Hacky writer voice] Into It. Over It.’s new song is called “Required Reading” and after hearing it, I’d say it’s also REQUIRED LISTENING. *Hits gong* No, but really, this might be my favorite song off the Chicago band’s upcoming album “Standards,” which is out in March.

1. Twin Peaks, “Walk To the One You Love”

Like the Rolling Stones? Hell yeah, my man! You’ll dig this. Don’t know who the Rolling Stones are? You’ll probably still dig this Chicago band.
