A man’s body was found in the basement of a Back of the Yards home Wednesday afternoon on the South Side, and police are investigating.
The body was found in the two-story home in the 4700 block of South Racine Avenue around 3:40 p.m., said Officer Ron Gaines, a police spokesman.
The man’s identity hasn’t been released, and the body did not appear to have any sign of trauma, Gaines said.
Officers were called to the home after neighbors complained about a foul odor.

Officials deemed the building unlivable, causing the displacement of at least one family.
Residents of the home said the man was a handyman, named Mario.
“He was a nice man,” one neighbor told WGN-TV. “I haven’t seen him in a couple of days, but I thought cause it’s been cold out.”
She added that the building had “a lot of problems.”
Police are conducting a death investigation, and no other information was immediately available.
