Presentation: Ralph Martire, Executive Director of the Chicago-based Center for Tax and Budget Accountability, will examine Illinois’ deepening fiscal crisis, explain the factors that led to it and discuss possible solutions at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Stevenson Center on Democracy, 25200 N. St. Mary’s Road. Martire teaches master’s classes on education finance and fiscal policy at the University of Illinois and at Roosevelt University. The public policy lecturer’s areas of expertise include tax policy, pension reform and school funding. Auditions: The Bowen Park Theatre is seeking actors who are comfortable with heightened text, creating characters and working as an ensemble for a spring production of William Shakespeare’s “The Comedy of Errors.” This is Shakespeare’s shortest comedy. Performances run March 25 to April 10. Most actors will be playing multiple roles, so actors who enjoy creating characters are encouraged to audition. Director Alicia Hall of Moving Dock Theatre/Chekhov Studio Chicago will use the Michael Chekhov technique in rehearsal. Actors need not have prior experience with the technique. Initial auditions will take place from noon to 5:30 p.m. Sunday at the Jack Benny Center for the Arts, Bowen Park, 39 Jack Benny Dr. All interested actors should call 847-360-4740 to reserve a time slot for the auditions. Bring a head shot, resume and prepare a one-minute piece of comedic classical text. Group callbacks will be held from 5 to 8:30 p.m. Monday. Actors must be available for both the Sunday and Monday auditions. There is pay.

Recycling: The Solid Waste Agency of Lake County (SWALCO) hosts a special electronics recycling collection event for broken and unwanted electronics from 8 a.m. to noon Tuesday at the Lindenhurst Village Hall garage at 2301 E. Sand Lake Rd. Recycling fees will be assessed for televisions ($20 each) and cathode ray tube style monitors ($15 each), all other acceptable electronics will be collected at no cost. SWALCO has partnered with eWorks Electronics Services Inc. to provide the Business Concierge Program for Lake County businesses, schools and governments to drop off limited quantities of electronics (about 100 electronic items per guest). Organizations with larger quantities of electronics are asked to contact SWALCO directly to arrange a special pickup. All Lake County businesses, schools and units of government must provide a federal tax identification letter or business card in order to be permitted to drop off electronics during this one day only special electronics collection event.
