A 77-year-old woman was killed Wednesday morning in a two-car crash in Ingleside, police said.

Investigators believe the woman, Jaclynn E. Vos, of the 39800 block of North Long Drive in Antioch, was driving west on Route 59 when she swerved into the eastbound lane and crashed into another car about 8:45 a.m., said Detective Christopher Covelli, a spokesman for the Lake County Sheriff’s office.

Vos was not wearing a seatbelt, police said.

Deputies responded and found two “extensively damaged” cars, and Vos died at the scene, Covelli said.

The driver of the other car, a 37-year-old woman, was taken to Centegra Hospital – McHenry with non-life-threatening injuries.

Nobody else was in the cars, and there were no other injuries, Covelli said.

Route 59 was closed for hours after the crash, which remains under investigation by the sheriff’s office.
