A fire at Macaroni Grill in Wheaton on Monday afternoon resulted in the restaurant’s indefinite closure, officials said.
About 2:45 p.m., the Wheaton Fire Department was dispatched to the restaurant, at 21 Blanchard Circle, city officials said in a news release.
Upon arriving, firefighters noticed flames escaping the roof near the center of the building. They brought the fire under control within 20 minutes and were able to evacuate the building’s occupants. The fire was confined to the kitchen and nearby roof area, officials said.
A firefighter received a minor, weather-related injury on the scene while putting out the fire, and was treated and released from a local hospital.
Firefighters have yet to determine the cause of the fire, which they don’t believe to be suspicious. Firefighters did not make damage estimates immediately available.
Macaroni Grill will remain closed for an indefinite period of time, officials said.
