Burr Ridge will put more than $1 million into road improvements this year, with much of the focus on the Oak Hills subdivision and Garfield Street.
Nearly $600,000 of the village’s road improvements in 2016 will be spent on projects in Oak Hills and on Garfield.
Motor fuel tax money, the village’s cut of the state gasoline tax, and a federal grant covering 75 percent of the cost of Garfield resurfacing will cut the village’s financial obligation for work nearly in half, to $559,920. The village’s share of that work will be paid through the general fund.
Public Works Director David Preissig said the municipality does an annual street survey to ensure that the roadways in the worst condition are put at the top of the village’s repair list. He said there are a number of roadway treatments, such as patching and crack sealing, that the village does prior to completely redoing a street.
“We try to do the right treatment at the right time on the right street,” Preissig said.
The Village Board unanimously approved the 2016 Road Program recommendations.
