A local accountant who has volunteered for the village is Frankfort’s new finance director.

Jenni Booth, whose hire was announced Monday at the Frankfort Village Board meeting, will be paid $110,000 a year. She takes on responsibilities that Rob Piscia, assistant village administrator, had handled since the April 2014 retirement of longtime fiance chief Sandy Babka.

“It gave us time to seek out the right person for our financial director job,” Mayor Jim Holland said. “Rob did a very good job.”

Booth, 44, was chosen from among 15 applicants. She had served on the village’s financial affairs committee since 2014.

A certified public accountant, Booth earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University of Illinois-Chicago and since 2007 has worked as a consultant to Theobald Associates in Joliet. Village officials said she has extensive experience in municipal finance and has worked as an audit manager.

“We are very pleased to welcome Jenni to the village of Frankfort,” Holland said. “She has served as a valuable member of our finance committee, and we are confident she will bring her financial expertise to the village staff and our community.”

Booth lives in Frankfort with her husband, Nick, and four children.

Holland also announced that the village has received more than $296,000 from the state in motor fuel and use tax receipts that had been delayed because of the lack of a state budget. The Legislature and Gov. Bruce Rauner last month agreed to a stopgap spending bill to disburse some funds while the impasse continues.
