A burglar or burglars forced their way into a home on the 1700 block of Richfield Trail through a basement window well and stole a car that was later recovered a few blocks away, Romeoville police said.

Other items may have been stolen as well, said Cmdr. John Ferdinardo, adding that the family is compiling a list. The burglary was discovered Dec. 23, but occurred the night before between 8 p.m. and 9 p.m., he said.

The vehicle, a 2008 dark-blue Infiniti, valued at $4,000, was taken from an attached garage. It was recovered the next day on Melissa Circle, Ferdinardo said.

Police had no leads as of Monday and do not know whether one or more burglars was involved, he said.
