Six hours after people celebrated the New Year, a woman celebrated an even more exciting event — the birth of her child.

The baby was born at 6:18 a.m. at Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville, becoming Lake County’s first baby born this year.

No further information was provided by the hospital.

Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital in Barrington had the first delivery of the year in 2014 and 2015. This year, the hospital welcomed its first baby minutes after Condell’s delivery.

Jaxson Lee Eckert, a baby boy weighing 7 pounds and 10 ounces, was born at 6:31 a.m. to parents Taryn and Kyle Eckert, of Carpentersville. He joins his older brother, Evan, who will be 3 years old next month, according to a news release.

Northwestern Lake Forest Hospital welcomed its first baby of the new year later in the morning.

Henry Harrison, a baby boy weighing 7 pounds and 8 ounces, was born at 10:46 a.m. to parents Courtney and Andy Harrison of Great Lakes, according to a news release.

Henry is the couple’s first baby. Courtney Harrison’s due date was Dec. 26, but she said it feels great to finally have him.

“We’re really happy to have him, and we’re excited to spend the year figuring out how to be new parents.”

At press time, NorthShore Highland Park Hospital had yet to welcome a baby this year.

Vista Medical Center East in Waukegan decided last year to stop sharing birth information on New Year’s Day, citing child safety.
