The Hampshire village board this month unanimously approved a resolution to increase the fees for liquor licenses issued in Hampshire.
“This is the first time we have increased the fees in about 10 years,” said Village President Jeffrey Magnussen. “We looked at what other communities such as Huntley, Gilberts, Genoa and Pingree Grove were charging.”
The fees in Hampshire were increased so they would be more in line with the fees charged by nearby villages.
The newly established fees are as follows: Class A-1, taverns/carry-out, $1,500; Class A-2, taverns, no carry-out, $1,250; Class B-1, package sales, $1,500; Class B-2, package sales/convenience stores, $1,500; Class C-1, restaurant, beer and wine, $1,500; Class C-2, restaurant, service with food, $1,500; Class C-3, restaurant/outdoor seating, $1,750; Class C-4, restaurant/on premises only, $1,500; Class D, hotels/motels, $1,750; Class E, banquet halls, $1,750; Class F, clubs, $1,500; Class G, special events, $75; Class H, beauty salons, spas, $500; Class I, Hampshire Park District, $500.
“Most of the license fees went up by $250,” said Magnussen.
The Class G, special events fee increased from $50 to $75.

Since only one business in town ever considered a Class H license but never applied for one, the fee stayed the same at $500.
