A 20-year-old Aurora man was airlifted from the scene of a Sugar Grove crash in critical condition Tuesday, Sugar Grove police said.

According to police, the man, who has not been identified, was on the Galena Boulevard overpass to Route 56 around 9:27 a.m. when his vehicle apparently became disabled.

The man got out of his westbound facing car and began pushing the Toyota Yaris out of the roadway on the overpass, police said.

At the same time, an 18-year-old from Aurora was driving westbound on Galena Boulevard in a Chevrolet Malibu and struck the Toyota and its driver.

The injured man was airlifted to Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove in critical condition, police said.

Police said there were no signs of drugs or alcohol use at the scene, and the investigation is ongoing.

The teen was charged with having no license and failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.

The roadway was closed for two and a half hours while the Kane County Accident Reconstruction Team investigated the crash.
