A 55-year-old Aurora man faces arraignment next week after his indictment on charges he stomped another man’s head during a September fight.
Darnell Wynn, currently held in Kane County Jail in lieu of $750,000 bail, was indicted recently on single counts of attempted murder and aggravated battery. Aurora police said Wynn and a 54-year-old acquaintance began to argue around 9 p.m. Sept. 22. A short time later, police were called to Middle Avenue and Cross Street on a report of a person lying in the road.
According to the indictment, prosecutors allege Wynn stomped the man’s head at least 20 times in a display of “brutal and heinous behavior” that left the man unconscious with multiple facial fractures and severe bleeding. Wynn’s heels were broken in the process of the kick-and-stomp attack, according to published reports.
Prosecutors stated they will seek an extended prison term for Wynn, should he be convicted, based on those factors, court records show.
Wynn is scheduled to return to court Dec. 18.
