There’s a new way to keep up with the work on the Water Street District redevelopment project.
Marquette Companies this week unveiled a website that provides continuous updates on construction of the $93 million hotel/restaurant/retail campus on the south end of Naperville’s downtown commercial core.
The page at www.waterstreetcommunity.info includes real-time photographs of the project, shot from the west by a camera installed on the roof of the Naperville Municipal Center. A separate visual element offers time-lapse images of the work, revised monthly, presenting 30 days’ worth of progress condensed into a 1-1/2-minute video with a musical soundtrack.
“There has been so much interest in the big yellow crane, the development of our new Riverwalk deck and the public art panels,” said Nick Ryan, Marquette’s CEO, in a news release. “Now folks can follow the construction, even when the weather prohibits standing out to watch along the Riverwalk.”

Also available on the site are details about the tenants retained so far to occupy the available spaces. Slated for completion in late 2016, the development will be anchored by the 158-room Hotel Indigo and will include a 520-space parking deck.
A decade in the making, the project was the focus of a tour Tuesday by Naperville District 203 high school students studying construction and architecture. The teens toured the 2.4-acre site with representatives of Lend Lease, the project’s contractor, and others associated with the development.
