Down but not out, Naperville’s curbside leaf pickup program is back on track.
The service, suspended Nov. 20 to enable Public Works crews to address an extraordinary early-season snowstorm, is ready to resume rounds after a week’s hiatus.
“On Monday, Nov. 30, they’re actually going to hit the (North Central) college area,” communications manager Linda LaCloche said Friday afternoon.
The program usually covers the college neighborhood on weekends, LaCloche said. The program has the weekday option because the final day of the fall term was Wednesday.
Originally targeting completion by Thanksgiving, the pickup’s third and final round went on hold as the city trucks were retrofitted from leaf collection to snow removal gear. The service is scheduled to wind up Dec. 4, LaCloche said.
All areas of the city have had the service twice so far. Only those neighborhoods that have not had their leaves swept up a third time will be visited by the trucks, LaCloche said. The greatest concentration of those streets are in the south and southwest areas of the city.
