Valparaiso at Oregon State

When: 8 p.m. Tuesday, Pac-12 Network, WVUR-FM (95.1).

Outlook: This game might not be as high profile as Valparaiso’s loss at Oregon. But the Crusaders have another chance to make an impression with a road win against a Power 5 opponent in the Beaver Showcase. A 6-1 record heading into Thanksgiving would look good for Valparaiso, especially with that last win coming against a solid Oregon State team led by Gary Payton II. “The Mitten,” last season’s Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Year and first team all-conference pick, averages 17.0 points, 7.3 rebounds, 5.5 assists and 3.8 steals. The Beavers (4-0) returned all five starters and 90.4 percent of their scoring, though big man Daniel Gomis has been out with a broken left hand. They also added six freshmen, billed as the highest-rated recruiting class in program history. Freshman guard Stephen Thompson Jr., the son of Oregon State assistant and former Syracuse standout Stephen Thompson, averages 12.3 points off the bench. Freshman forward Tres Tinkle, the son of second-year Beavers coach Wayne, averages 11.3 off the bench. Freshman forward Drew Eubanks (12.0) and junior guard Malcolm Duvivier (10.3) also average in double figures. The Crusaders are 1-9 all-time against the current Pac-12. The Beavers went a school-best 15-2 at home last season.
