Jake Arrieta was named the National League Cy Young Award winner on Wednesday by the Baseball Writers Association of America, capping off a spectacular three-way race between the Cubs’ pitcher and the Dodgers’ Zack Greinke and Clayton Kershaw. Greinke finished second in the voting, and Kershaw third.

The three pitchers led the pack in most statistical categories. Of the trio, Greinke finished the season with a lower ERA, and Kershaw had the most strikeouts; but the BBWAA voters picked Arrieta, who pitched a historic second half of the season.
