Oswego police assisted Thompson Junior High School officials in investigating a threat made against a student on Monday.
Oswego Police Department spokeswoman Cathy Nevara said police were contacted by school officials around 12:55 p.m. to investigate a threat made against a student, allegedly by a person who was not a student and not on school grounds.
The threat, which was made over social media, was rooted in a rumor, and was deemed not credible or substantiated, Nevara said.
According to police, no criminal act occurred.
Nevara said officers were at the school assisting in the investigation and present outside the school during dismissal time as a precaution.
Police would not release details about the threat, but said there was no credibility to what was said.
