Aurora police said an apparent “alcohol-infused” fight sent an Aurora man to the hospital with a deep laceration to his head after he was struck with a glass ashtray Sunday evening.

Aurora Police Department spokesman said the 59-year-old injured man was drinking with a group of people inside his apartment in the 1600 block of Plum Street around 11:15 p.m. when an argument broke out.

According to Ferrelli, the fight escalated and ended with Theodore Love, 64, 600 block of South River Street, striking the 59-year-old man with the ashtray, causing the laceration and a “ping pong ball size” knot on his head. He was taken to an Aurora hospital where he was treated and released, Ferrelli said.

A 72-year-old man and 49-year-old woman were also inside the apartment at the time of the fight and were not injured or charged, Ferrelli said.

Love was charged with felony aggravated battery.
