A stolen Dodge minivan was located in Aurora a day after it was reported stolen, and now two teens have been arrested, Aurora police said.
Davon Saulsberry,18, of the 800 block of Taylor Avenue in Aurora, and a 17-year-old Aurora girl were each charged with two counts of possession of a stolen motor vehicle after police said they were spotted riding around in the stolen van around 4:35 p.m. Wednesday, Aurora Police Department spokesman Dan Ferrelli said.
According to Ferrelli, the vehicle, worth $12,500, was reported to have been stolen sometime between 6 p.m. Monday and 5 a.m. Tuesday from a driveway in the 300 block of Parker Avenue. The owner told police the keys had been left inside the unlocked van.
On Wednesday afternoon, an Aurora police officer spotted Saulsberry driving the van near Farnsworth Avenue and Montgomery Road, police said. Ferrelli said there were three passengers inside the vehicle.
The officer followed the vehicle to the 900 block of Calhoun Street, where it pulled into a driveway. Ferrelli said the officer called for backup, and all four people inside the van were taken into custody. Saulsberry and the 17-year-old were subsequently charged. Ferrelli said an 18-year-old woman and 19-year-old man also inside the vehicle were released without charges.
Saulsberry was also cited for having no license, Ferrelli said.
